Fire Safety and Material Selection in Exhibition Stands

In a crowded fair hall, fire safety is a non-negotiable part of design. The right material and the right layout protect both people and investment.
Fire-resistant materials
Non-combustibility or flame-retardancy certificates may be required for fabric, wood and cladding materials. Material without certificates may cause problems at stand approval.

Escape routes and distance
In multi-level or enclosed stands, exits must be open, visible and of sufficient width. Furniture and products must not block the escape route.
Extinguisher and signage
A fire extinguisher should be kept where the organiser requires and direction signs should be kept visible. The electrical panel and devices should be positioned away from flammable materials.
Quick checklist
- Materials with fire certificates
- Open and visible exits
- Extinguisher and signs
- Clearance around the electrical panel
